Paul Pendergast is a nationally recognized outreach and marketing communications expert with over 19 years of practical experience in the field of strategic communications, public and community relations, media production and market research.
Pendergast has directed a myriad of results-driven programs which have included market research (both qualitative and quantitative), multi-lingual print, television and radio campaigns, satellite telecasts, film and video production, long-distance and on-site training programs, highly interactive internet campaigns, 3D-graphic imaging programs, multi-dimensional collateral systems development, community relations, database development, reporting, tracking, and monitoring, and speech/script-writing.
In addition, Pendergast has earned a reputation for leading both large and small teams of highly successful professionals in developing and implementing communication programs between multiple and complex stakeholder groups.
Lynn Van Winkle
Lynn Van Winkle’s most recent projects for Pendergast include Caltrans Calmentor Program, Doyle Drive Replacement Project, Antioch Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program and the Dumbarton Bridge Seismic Safety Program. Key responsibilities include stakeholder outreach and management, event management, vendor management, collateral materials development and quality assurance.
Prior to joining Pendergast Consulting Group, Van Winkle was the Director of Events for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce where she developed content, planned production and contributed to fundraising for annual Chamber events CityBeat Luncheon, CityTrip, CitySummit and the high-profile Excellence in Business Awards (The Ebbies). She established strong relationships with the board of directors; collaborations included annual financial commitments, event sponsorships and committee participation. In addition, she developed budgets and timelines, managing pre-event and on-site logistics for events with 25 1,100 attendees. Van Winkle increased company visibility and membership through existing contacts and by attending hospitality industry and business community functions.
As the Director of Business Development for proVISION Resources, Inc., Van Winkle identified new marketing opportunities, created proposals and facilitated capabilities presentations. Clients included BMW, Lexus, Starbucks, Aveda and Microsoft. She developed the sales/marketing strategy for revised company services, marketing collateral and websites. In addition, she created guest speaker and industry-related publication opportunities for company owner. Account management included ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers), an annual four-day event with 9,000 attendees and 300 volunteers.
As Corporate Events Manager for San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Van Winkle elevated SFMOMA’s position to the Number 1 corporate events revenue-generating museum in the United States. She managed an average of 170 events a year for clients including Merrill Lynch, Pixar, Sun Microsystems and Janssen Pharmaceutical. She established partnerships within museum departments to create corporate sponsorship opportunities and ensured compliance with contractual requirements by negotiating and creating museum event policies. Additional duties included initial and key contact for all event inquiries, date availability confirmation, site inspections, event collateral approval and on-site management.
Paula Tejeda serves as a strategic outreach coordinator for the Pendergast Consulting Group and specializes in outreach to the Latino and Small Business communities. Originally from Santiago, Chile, Tejeda has also had management responsibilities under the leadership of Paul Pendergast for such projects as the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Seismic Safety Program, Caltrans Calmentor Program, Small Business Economic Summits for Governors Schwarzenegger and Davis, Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. of San Francisco and Mayor James Hahn of Los Angeles. Tejeda produced multi-lingual activities for Pendergast’s contract for the Secretary of State Statewide Outreach campaign that included print, radio and television communication tools in Spanish and Cantonese.
Having studied Media Communications at Laney College and San Francisco State University, Tejeda was awarded an Internship at KTVU Channel 2 in Oakland, CA where she produced community affairs programming for the station. Following the Internship at KTVU, Tejeda was subsequently awarded a position at KPIX Channel 5 in San Francisco where she assisted in the production of segments for the hit television program Evening Magazine.
Gwen Kaplan specializes in the development and maintenance of complex database and direct marketing programs. As a recognized national expert on direct marketing and database management, Kaplan also serves as an instructor at the University of California Berkeley and at Stanford. She received the Woman Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in 1987 from the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and the Excellence in Business Award from the same organization in 1992.
Kaplan has been honored by the California State Legislature for her contributions to creating an improved entrepreneurial environment in the State. In 1992 she was named the Small Business Advocate of the Year for the State of California by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Clients include BART, Blue Cross of California, ChevronTexaco, Cisco Systems and AT&T.
Kevin Hayes manages all aspects of the Pendergast Consulting Group’s data center. He writes policies and procedures for the Data Processing Department, designs and implements training programs for computer personnel and manages computer hardware and software procurements for the entire data department. Hayes designs, implements and installs all applications and software required to meet clients’ deadlines.
